I did it!

After several false starts over several weeks I finally mailed my first box of cards to Operation Write Home today.  I feel very accomplished.  There were 70 cards this time and I am itching to make more....maybe later. There are a lot of other things I need to catch up on and so I've been working my way through those.

I love to go to my local scrapbooking store where I can spread out and work without the distraction that happens when I work at home.  When I'm at the store I can stay focused and not concern myself with a solicitor's phone call or our cat insisting on attention or my wondering if I should start a load of laundry or whatever myriad of household chores call for my attention.  While I'm at the store, those chores must wait.

I've noticed that people having been stopping by to check out my blog but so far no one has left a comment.  I would sure love some feedback or suggestions.  Or even a friendly "hi."

This and that

I'm trying to post each day and also to make adjustments to my blog as I gain more knowledge.  Building this blog is going to be a slow process, it seems.  When I look at others' blogs, I am humbled by the beautiful work that I see.  One of my nieces (by marriage) shared with me the links to her aunt's blogs and I was blown away at how gorgeous they are.  One of her achievements is that she is a graphic artist.  Aha!  Had I those skills, I wouldn't be bumbling and fumbling around this way.  But, then again, when we're new at something.....or at least when I am.......slow and steady with a backstep here and there seems to be the order of the day.

I scanned a few more cards today so am sharing them here.  I'm hoping to get them all in before we lose electrical power again.  Our neighborhood has been suffering from the overload from air conditioners that are running to give us some relief from the 100 plus degrees temperatures.  It's taken me 3 tries to get this far in my posting so let's get the uploads rolling!

I've finally stepped into the land of blog

I've decided it's time to create a blog after attempting a few times and drawing away in confusion.  This really wasn't so bad for my first attempt although I expect I'll find things that need to be tweaked a bit.  For now I'm keeping it simple.

I plan to use this blog as a vehicle to share my art with friends and others.  I also want to post work at other sites but cannot do so without linking to my blog.  Ah, now you've learned the impetus for this venture.  At any rate, I have a lot of learning to do and I hope those who read this will exercise some tolerance and patience as I do.
